A windshield survey found that most sidewalks were not elderly- or disability- friendly.  Sidewalks either did not exist or were cracked.

Taking the bus can pose particular problems.  Many bus stops do not have shelters and are hard to get to.  Bus routes are very limited and can be unreliable.  Some older adults do not feel safe taking the bus--especially at night.

SmartBus offers Americans with Disabilities Act curb to curb service, at $3 per ride, and with time and location restraints.

Some agencies (Bridging Communities and LA SED) offer door-to-door transportation for elders if resources permit.
